SSGT Seth Lee West, Jr. enter the United States Marine Corps from Kinston, North Carolina. Staff Sergeant Seth Lee West, Jr. was an Infantry Unit Leader. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. He served in Vietnam from July 12, 1967 until he was killed on April 16, 1968. His death occurred in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam by hostile explosive device. On the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D. C., his name is on panel 50E line 24.

His awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the Marine Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal
