PFC Vernell Henry Miller entered the US Army from Kinston, North Carolina. He served with Company C 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from December 2, 1967 until he was killed on May 27, 1968. At the time of his death he was in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam. He died from a hostile explosive device. His name is located at panel 65W, line11 of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C.

His awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Purple Heart Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal
