SP4 Carl Lee Hill Jr. entered the US Army from Kinston, NC. He served with Troop C, 1st Calvary Squadron, 1st Aviation Brigade in Vietnam from February 1, 1968 until he was killed in a helicopter crash at Kien Hoa Province, South Vietnam on April 4, 1968. He was a member of a helicopter air crew at the time. American Legion Post #504 is named in his honor. His name is located at panel 48E, line 4 of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC.

His awards include the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
