Cpl Robert Junior Garrett entered the US Army from Grifton, North Carolina. He was assigned to Company c, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He was killed on June 9, 1970 by small arms fire in Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam. His name can be found on the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington DC on panel 9W, line 33.

His awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal.
