Airman First Class Justin Beasley is the son of Ms. Kellie Beasley of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is a graduated of New Hanover High School. During his high school years, he earned letters in both football and lacrosse. He entered the Air Force in November 2009. After basic training, he was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Upon graduating for the course, he was assigned at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base located in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Airman Beasley was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2012. Upon his arrival, his team was attached to an Army Infantry Company. He returned to Seymour Johnson after seven months. In November 2012, Justin was the recipient of the USO Spirit of Freedom Award for 2012. His awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Air Force Combat Action Ribbon.
He is the grandson of Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Herman H and Mrs. Bonnie H McLawhorn of Kinston and Ms. Elizabeth Williams of Wilmington.
