Jimmie Barwick was born in Wilson County, June 21, 1892. His mother and father died when he was very young and he moved to Lenoir County. He was in the Army and fought in France during World War I where he survived a Mustard Gas attack, carrying the scars on his legs until his death. After the war, he returned to Lenoir County where he lived until his death. He is buried in Pinelawn Cemetery. He is honored by his daughter, Betsy Elmore Stancill.
