HE WAS ASSIGNED TO COMPANY A, 1ST BATTALION, 27TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION. PFC BARBER WAS WOUNDED BY SMALL ARMS FIRE ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1967 AT HAU NGHIA PROVINCE, SOUTH VIETNAM. HE DIED OF HIS WOUNDS ON NOVEMBER 2, 1967. HIS NAME CAN BE LOCATED ON THE VIETNAM WALL IN WASHINGTON DC ON PANEL 29E, LINE 8.

HIS AWARDS INCLUDE THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN’S BADGE, THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL, THE NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, THE VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL AND THE REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL.
