Technician Fifth Grade Rayford C. Adams at Kinston, North Carolina on October 26, 1926. He entered the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on November 25, 1944. He received basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida and Parachute training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then sent to San Francisco to go overseas. He was to take part in the upcoming invasion of Japan, however, the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, thus ending the War.

T/5 Adams was then sent to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines Islands. From the Philippines he along with other paratroopers was post the Sindi, Japan. He remained there until he completed his military service. He returned to Fort Bragg and was discharged on November 19, 1946.

His awards are as follows: the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.
