John M. Croom, born September 2, 1912. He joined the United States Navy on November 8, 1929. He served his country until he was discharged at San Pedro, California on June 2, 1937. He came back to North Carolina and farmed until October 31, 1939, when he reenlisted in the Navy. This time he made a career of the Navy until he retired on June 1, 1957. He retired at the Mine Craft Base in Charleston, South Carolina as a Chief Warrant Officer, fourth class.
After leaving the Navy, he worked for the State of North Carolina at Caswell Center until he retired at the age of 61 years. John M Croom died on November 21, 1996.
