Orange Gooding’s home of record was Norfolk, Virginia. He was born March 3, 1928. In Vietnam he was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. He died of a heart attack at the age of 40 on March 7, 1969 at Khank Hoa, South Vietnam. His name can be found on the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington DC on panel 30 W, line 64.
His awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (first awarded in Korea and then again in Vietnam), the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, The Korean Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the China Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
