Wallace Kay Lang was born on March 30, 1937 in Lenoir County, North Carolina. Raised around La Grange, Wallace graduated from La Grange High School in 1955. One year prior to his high school graduation, he enlisted in the North Carolina National Guard. While serving in the National Guard, he entered East Carolina College. In 1958, he received training as an artillery team member at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Wallace served with the National Guard until 1965, achieving the grade of Specialist Five (E-5).
Wallace Lang currently resides in Kinston, North Carolina and is married to the former Shelley May Jackson.
